The short answer

To make a jewellery bill, set the day’s rate for each purity, weigh the piece — gross weight, stone weight and net weight — add making charges, wastage and the value of the stones, and charge GST at 3%. If the customer gives old gold, take it in after the tax, so the new piece is taxed on its full value and only the balance is asked for. Bilzy does this on Windows and Android for ₹999 a year, and on Windows it also keeps each karigar’s account in fine grams and a metal register.

Purity is kept as fineness — 22K is 916 — so fine weight is exact, and every old bill reprints at the rate it was made on.

  • Gold is weighed to the milligram. Your bill should be as exact as your scale.

  • Trust in a jewellery shop is built over generations — and lost in one wrong bill.

  • Your karigar’s gold is your gold. Know where every gram is.

How to make a jewellery bill on Bilzy

  1. 1

    Set today’s rates

Open Metal rates and enter the rate for each purity — 24K, 22K, 18K and silver. Bills already made keep the rate they were made on.

  2. 2

    Add the piece

Pick the item. The weighing sheet opens by itself, filled with the item’s usual purity, making and wastage.

  3. 3

    Weigh it

Enter the gross weight and the stone weight. Bilzy works out the net weight and the fine weight from the purity.

  4. 4

    Add making, wastage and stones

Add the making charge and wastage, and each stone in its own unit — carats for diamonds, rattis for gemstones — with its value.

  5. 5

Read the working on the bill

The working prints inside the item’s own line — weight, purity, rate and making — so the customer can see how the price was made.

  6. 6

    Take old gold in

Weigh the customer’s old gold, set its purity and any melting deduction. Its value comes off after GST, and the bill shows the balance to pay.

  7. 7

Take the advance and the balance

If an advance was paid when the order was placed, it comes off too. Take the rest in cash, UPI or both.

Where the gold goes

Gold is lost not at the counter but between the counter, the bench and the safe. On the Windows app each step leaves a record in fine grams.

  1. 1

    Bought

Metal or ornaments bought by weight, with touch and wastage.

  2. 2

    To the karigar

Metal issued against a job card, in fine grams.

  3. 3

    Back from the bench

Pieces received, wastage allowed, balance worked out.

  4. 4

    Sold

Weighed and billed; the fine weight leaves the register.

  5. 5

    Old gold in

Exchange and counter buys come back into the register.

The karigar’s account, in fine grams

Most jewellers lose track of gold not at the counter but at the bench. Metal goes out in the morning, pieces come back over weeks, wastage is argued about, and the notebook balance drifts a little every month.

On the Bilzy Windows app, each job card records the metal issued, the pieces received and the wastage you allow, all in fine grams. The balance is worked out afresh every time it is opened, so correcting a receipt never leaves an old figure behind.

  • Issue metal against a job card
  • Receive the pieces back in parts
  • See what each karigar still holds, in fine grams
Weigh twice. Bill once.

Questions shopkeepers ask

How is a gold jewellery bill calculated?

Net weight (gross weight minus stones) multiplied by the day’s rate for its purity gives the metal value. Making charges, wastage and the value of the stones are added, then GST at 3% on the total. Old gold taken in is valued by its fine weight and taken off after the tax.

Can Bilzy handle old gold exchange?

Yes. Weigh the old gold, set its purity and melting deduction, and its value comes off the bill after GST, so the new piece is taxed on its full value.

Does Bilzy keep a karigar account?

Yes, on the Windows app. Job cards record metal issued and pieces received in fine grams, with the wastage you allow, and show what each karigar still holds.

Does jewellery billing work on the phone?

Yes. The rate board, the weighing sheet and old gold exchange work on the Android app too. Karigar accounts, metal buying and the metal register are on the Windows app.

Is Bilzy only for small shops?

No. It is priced so a small shop can afford it, and built for a busy one: staff logins with roles, stock in more than one godown, wholesale rates and credit limits, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B files, and billing that keeps going when the internet does not. The low price is how it is sold — one yearly plan, bought online, with no AMC — not a smaller product.

Does Bilzy work without internet?

Yes. Bills are made and saved on the phone or the PC, and go up to your account when the connection comes back.

Can I use it on my phone and my computer together?

Yes, on one account. Items, parties and bills are the same on both, and stock is moved by the server so two counters cannot sell the same last piece. Phone + Windows is ₹1,299 a year.

Can my staff bill without seeing my profit?

Yes. Each staff login gets only the screens you tick. Purchase cost and profit are their own permission.
