Hinglish me padho →Building Material Dealer Billing: Bags, Trucks, E-way Bills and Contractor Credit
Four hundred bags of cement on a truck, an e-way bill to generate, a contractor who pays when the job ends — and a site that needs it all by noon.
- Free plan to start
- Works without internet
- 10,000+ bills made on Bilzy
The short answer
A building material dealer needs billing that sells in bags and kilos, sends a delivery challan with the vehicle number on every truck, keeps the e-way bill number against the bill, and runs credit accounts for contractors. Bilzy does this: set that one bag holds 50 kg so either unit can be billed, make a challan from the bill with the vehicle and the address, prepare the e-way bill file and keep its number, and run each contractor’s account with a credit limit and statements. It runs on Windows and Android from ₹999 a year.
Cement has carried 18% GST since 22 September 2025, down from 28%. An e-way bill is generally needed when a consignment is worth more than ₹50,000, and some states set a higher limit for goods moving inside the state.

How to bill building materials on Bilzy
- 1
Set your units
Keep cement in bags and say that one bag holds 50 kg, so the bill can take bags or kilos. Keep steel in the unit your yard sells by.
- 2
Add contractors and builders
Make an account for each contractor with his phone, GSTIN and a credit limit.
- 3
Make the bill
Pick the items and the quantities. Within your state the bill charges CGST and SGST; for a buyer in another state it charges IGST.
- 4
Send a challan with the truck
From the bill, make a delivery challan with the site address, the vehicle number and the reason, in one or three copies.
- 5
Prepare the e-way bill
For a consignment that needs one, prepare the e-way bill file from the bill on the Android app, upload it on the e-way bill portal, and save the number you get back against the bill.
- 6
Collect as the job moves
Take payments against particular bills or as a lump sum, and send the contractor a statement.
The papers for a building material delivery
| Paper | When it is needed | On Bilzy |
|---|---|---|
| Tax invoice | Every sale by a registered dealer | Made at billing |
| Delivery challan | Goods going out to a site | Made from the bill, with vehicle and address |
| E-way bill | Generally when a consignment is worth over ₹50,000 | File prepared from the bill; the number kept with it |
| Party statement | When a contractor settles up | Every bill and payment on his account |
E-way bill limits for goods moving inside a state differ in some states. Check the rule for yours on ewaybillgst.gov.in.
GST on common building materials

In building materials the paperwork travels with the truck. Get it right before the engine starts.
Five rules for dealer credit
Agree the limit before the first order
A limit is easy to agree at the start and hard to argue about later.
One account per contractor
Not one per site, not in a notebook — one account with every bill on it.
A statement every month
A clear statement is the politest reminder there is.
Collect against bills
Settle payments against particular bills, so old dues never hide behind new ones.
Stop at the warning
When Bilzy warns that a limit will be crossed, call him before the truck is loaded.

Questions shopkeepers ask
Can I bill cement in bags and kilos?
Yes. Keep cement in bags and set that one bag holds 50 kg. The bill can then take bags or kilos, and stock stays right in bags.
Does Bilzy make e-way bills?
Bilzy prepares the e-way bill file from the bill on the Android app. You upload it on the government e-way bill portal and save the e-way bill number back against the bill, where it stays in a register.
Can I print the vehicle number on the challan?
Yes. The delivery challan made from a bill carries the vehicle number, the delivery address and the reason, in one or three copies.
Is Bilzy only for small shops?
No. It is priced so a small shop can afford it, and built for a busy one: staff logins with roles, stock in more than one godown, wholesale rates and credit limits, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B files, and billing that keeps going when the internet does not. The low price is how it is sold — one yearly plan, bought online, with no AMC — not a smaller product.
Does Bilzy work without internet?
Yes. Bills are made and saved on the phone or the PC, and go up to your account when the connection comes back.
Can I use it on my phone and my computer together?
Yes, on one account. Items, parties and bills are the same on both, and stock is moved by the server so two counters cannot sell the same last piece. Phone + Windows is ₹1,299 a year.
Can my staff bill without seeing my profit?
Yes. Each staff login gets only the screens you tick. Purchase cost and profit are their own permission.
