The short answer

A bakery or sweet shop sells by weight and by piece, takes orders with an advance, and makes its own goods from raw material. In Bilzy, bill sweets by weight — 0.25 for 250 g — take cake orders as quotations with an advance and turn them into bills on pickup, keep batch and expiry for packed items, and on the Android app let a recipe take the ingredients off stock when the item is billed. Sweets, cakes, pastries and biscuits carry 5% GST. Bilzy costs ₹999 a year, with a free plan to start.

Bread, roti and paratha carry no GST, so a bakery bill often has two rates on it — each item keeps its own.

How to bill a bakery on Bilzy

  1. 1

Add items by weight and by piece

Keep sweets priced per kilo, and cakes, pastries and packs priced per piece.

  2. 2

    Bill sweets by weight

Enter 0.25 for 250 g or 0.5 for half a kilo. The price is worked out from the rate per kilo.

  3. 3

    Take cake orders

Make a quotation for the cake with the customer’s name and phone, and record the advance.

  4. 4

Turn the order into the bill

On pickup, make the quotation a bill. The advance comes off and only the balance is asked for.

  5. 5

Keep batch and expiry for packed goods

Switch on batches for packed biscuits, rusks and namkeen, so stock and dates are kept batch by batch.

  6. 6

    Let recipes move raw material

On the Android app, give an item its recipe — flour, sugar, ghee — and billing it takes those ingredients off stock.

  7. 7

    Close each festival day

Match the day’s cash and UPI with the drawer before you leave.

A cake order, start to finish

  2. 2

    Advance

    Recorded in cash or UPI.

Ingredients leave stock by recipe on the phone app.

  4. 4

The quotation becomes the bill; the advance comes off.

  5. 5

    Balance

Paid at the counter, bill printed or sent.

Questions shopkeepers ask

How do I bill sweets by weight?

Keep the sweet priced per kilo and enter the weight as the quantity — 0.25 for 250 g, 0.5 for half a kilo. Bilzy works out the price.

Can I take cake orders with an advance?

Yes. Make a quotation for the order and record the advance. On pickup, turn it into the bill; the advance comes off and only the balance is asked for.

What is the GST on sweets and cakes?

Sweets, namkeen, cakes, pastries, biscuits and chocolates carry 5% GST since 22 September 2025. Bread, roti and paratha carry none. Check the HSN of your items.

Is Bilzy only for small shops?

No. It is priced so a small shop can afford it, and built for a busy one: staff logins with roles, stock in more than one godown, wholesale rates and credit limits, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B files, and billing that keeps going when the internet does not. The low price is how it is sold — one yearly plan, bought online, with no AMC — not a smaller product.

Does Bilzy work without internet?

Yes. Bills are made and saved on the phone or the PC, and go up to your account when the connection comes back.

Can I use it on my phone and my computer together?

Yes, on one account. Items, parties and bills are the same on both, and stock is moved by the server so two counters cannot sell the same last piece. Phone + Windows is ₹1,299 a year.

Can my staff bill without seeing my profit?

Yes. Each staff login gets only the screens you tick. Purchase cost and profit are their own permission.
