The Small-Town Chemist Deserves the Same Software as the Big Chain
In a small town the chemist is often the first help a family reaches at night. The software behind that counter should not depend on the size of the town.

The short answer
A single medical store carries the same duties as a chain: the right batch, no expired stock, a complete Schedule H1 register, correct GST and a drug licence on the bill. What it rarely has is an IT department or a large software budget. Bilzy Pharmacy was built for that counter: batch-wise stock with earliest-expiry-first billing, loose tablets, the H1 register from the bill and a list of over 3 lakh medicines, on Windows, Android and a browser, from ₹699 a year with no AMC.
Good pharmacy software is not a city privilege. It is part of dispensing safely.
- Built for
- The single counter
- Price
- ₹699 a year, no AMC
- Medicines
- Over 3 lakh built in

- Offline too
Same medicines. Same rules. Same responsibility. The same software should be within reach.
At eleven at night, the town’s chemist is its pharmacy, its advice desk and its first aid.
Safety should never be priced by the size of the town.
The counter that never really closes
In many towns and villages the chemist is the nearest thing to a health system that is open after dark. People come with a prescription, with a child running a fever, or simply with a question. The chemist dispenses, advises, and often gives credit to a family that is short that week.
The law asks the same of that counter as it asks of a chain store in a big city: the right batch, no expired medicine, prescriptions for the medicines that need them, a Schedule H1 register kept for three years, and correct GST. The difference is that the chain has a software team. The small-town chemist has a notebook and a long evening.
The rules for a medical store do not change with the size of the town. Neither should the quality of its tools.
The same duties, very different help
| Duty | What it demands every day | What good software does |
|---|---|---|
| Right batch, no expired stock | Checking dates strip by strip | Earliest-expiry batch picked at billing; a short-expiry report |
| Schedule H1 register | Writing doctor and patient details for each sale | The register built from the bill, serial numbers fixed |
| Loose tablets | Working out the price per tablet in your head | Price, stock and profit per tablet |
| GST | Rate-wise totals at month end | GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B files from the bills |
| Expiry returns | Lists for the distributor, and chasing the credit | Debit notes at the rate you choose |
| Buying well | Remembering who gave the best scheme | A reorder list that compares real cost per unit |

What a single-counter pharmacy should insist on
It works when the internet does not
Billing and the medicine list must live on the counter PC itself.
A built-in medicine list
Typing thousands of medicines by hand is not a setup. It is a month.
The register from the bill
An H1 register written separately is a register that falls behind.
Loose tablets done right
Price, stock and profit per tablet — not per strip, guessed later.
No AMC
A yearly maintenance contract can cost more than the software.
Help in your language
Support that answers in Hindi or English, on the phone or WhatsApp.
A chemist’s evening, with the software doing its share
- 1
Last customer
The bill made, and the register entry with it.
- 2
Cash count
The day book shows cash and UPI apart.
- 3
Expiry
The short-expiry list, checked once a week.
- 4
Order
The reorder list ready for the morning call.
- 5
Home
The shutter down on time.
When the chemist goes home on time, the town still has its chemist tomorrow.

Questions shopkeepers ask
Is there affordable pharmacy software for a small medical store?
Yes. Bilzy Pharmacy is ₹699 a year for the Windows counter, ₹999 a year with the owner’s phone, and ₹2,699 for three years on both, with every feature on every plan and no AMC.
Does pharmacy software need the internet?
Bilzy Pharmacy bills offline on the Windows app, with the medicine list stored on the PC, and syncs when the connection returns.
Is Bilzy only for small shops?
No. It is priced so a small shop can afford it, and built for a busy one: staff logins with roles, stock in more than one godown, wholesale rates and credit limits, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B files, and billing that keeps going when the internet does not. The low price is how it is sold — one yearly plan, bought online, with no AMC — not a smaller product.

Business Software Should Not Be a Luxury. Every Shop Deserves It.
The corner shop and the chain store work the same hours, carry the same risk and pay the same GST. Only one of them was ever expected to afford good software.
